About Me
I'm Anisia Burroughs — 26, Los Angeles-based, and the founder of The Nail Bawse. I didn't set out to build an empire. I set out to master a craft. Everything else — the clients, the brand, the comeback — followed from that. It started with lashes. I entered the beauty industry as a lash tech in 2018. Within my first year, I knew nails were where my hands — and my heart — truly belonged, so I enrolled at Palace Beauty College, determined to master the craft properly. Four months later I graduated, and went straight into continuing education. Licensed was never going to be enough. Within a year I'd built a clientele of over 100 loyal clients — not luck, but relentless consistency and care. Nail artistry gave me a kind of independence I didn't know I was capable of, and my business grew faster than I ever imagined. By 2021, I stepped into more dependable pay opportunities — the safe, sensible move. But something in me wasn't settled, and by 2022 I knew those opportunities no longer suited what I needed as a nail tech. My focus shifted back toward building something that was mine again. Then life interrupted everything. In early 2022, my mother became terminally ill, and I stepped away from my clients to be by her side. It cost me — all of the clientele I'd built couldn't wait, and I lost the majority of it almost overnight. My mom passed away less than 21 days later. I walked away for four years. Not because I was giving up, but because I refused to come back broken. I needed to rebuild my own heart before I could rebuild a business. You cannot pour into people from an empty cup — I had to refill mine first. Now I'm back. Not just as a nail tech, but as someone who understands what it means to lose everything, over and over again, and keep moving anyway. That understanding is the foundation The Nail Bawse is built on. Today, it's more than a service — it's a standard: seven-plus years of technical mastery, specializing in nail enhancements, pedicures, and spa services, built on a legacy that started long before I ever picked up a nail file. I built this brand for clients who are done paying for just nails— because I know exactly what a client wants to pay for, and exactly what it takes to give the best experience.
